Having one of these back in the day put you and your Atari on the bleeding edge of either your credit card or your circle of PC friends.

The Percom Data Corporation was renowned in the late 70s and early 80s for the peripherals it made for PCs like the TRS-80 and the Atari 8-bit platforms. It was founded by Harold and Lucy Mauch in 1976 and started out making cassette-based storage systems before developing disk based units like the one above. Back then, having one of these was akin to having an SSD today. No more cassettes. Just 88kb on a single-density 5.25″ disk!
