Lots of gaming got done and I’ve been trying to put together a writeup for what I’ve gone through. Finished “Force Unleashed” and I thought it was a lot of fun. I’ve submitted that review to another site, but the summary is that the story is exceptional, the gameplay is fun with a few rough edges, but I don’t think it really justifies the $60 price tag that it’s currently carrying. There’s just not enough there and if you really care about the story, you can always buy the comic adaptation that is also out. You might feel better about saving your dough for something else that you want to play, although die-hard Star Wars fans will undoubtedly get more out of the experience and opt to add it to their collection of figures, books, and miniature Death Stars.
Also finished Tales of Vesperia which is, at least to me, the best JRPG out this year. It’s a lighthearted RPG that doesn’t take itself seriously, dotes on its characters and its story material, and spends plenty of time in being a series of anime episodes transformed into a very long and very satisfying RPG. If you’re a Tales fan, it’s everything you hoped for and more and if you haven’t played a Tales game yet, now is as good a time as any. It’s a lot of fun without being too serious or incredibly epic in the way that Lord of the Rings is epic. It’s just…fun.
I’ve also gone through Too Human and I didn’t think it was as bad as some have said it might be. It’s got a lot of rough spots to it, the overly indulgent and unskippable death scene being one of those, but I thought it was actually kind of fun in its own way. I’ve played worse, and Too Human doesn’t even come close. It’s not a bad hack ‘n slasher to play in order to tickle your need to collect lots and lots of lovely loot.
