Tomb Raider Fanservice

She’s back in the adventure that made her a legend

Crystal Dynamics and Eidos have released Tomb Raider Anniversary for the PC and PS2, a remake of the first Tomb Raider using Tomb Raider Legend’s gameplay mechanics. This was actually a lot of fun and just as frustrating as I had remembered the first one being, but the camera continues to be something of a holy grail with the series as it still has a few problems. Fortunately, it wasn’t bad enough to spoil the nostalgia and the game feels a lot like a new chapter in the series. At about twice the length of Legend for a relatively bargain price, fans have something to whet their appetite until the next major chapter comes out.

In the Future, We Still Have Block Puzzles

Finally found some time to get back into Xenosaga II. I had played through the first one, but I have to admit that I had a hard time putting aside time to get into the next one because of how badly the reviews and players had thrashed it.  I finally snagged a copy and sat down to get through the second chapter, if only because the third one is already out and ends what should have been a much longer series and want to know how it all ends.

Anyways, I put down my thoughts in a writeup on my own experience with the title here:

Xenosaga II: Jenseits von Gute und Bose – (PS2)
Great story, great characters, great setting. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is a good rule of thumb in some cases, but if you have to change something, make sure it’s something fun. Unfortunately, the sequel doesn’t quite follow that formula making finding out what happens more of a struggle than it should have been. It’s a sequel strictly for the fans.
